On July 4th, the Municipality of Coatepeque received a donation of tools and equipment for the cabinetmaking workshop. This initiative is part of the Municipal Public Policy for Socioeconomic Inclusion as an Alternative to Irregular Migration, with support from Fundación HAME, the Migrant Voices for Change Project of Avina Foundation, and the Swedish International Cooperation Agency.
The objective of this workshop is to provide specialized training in a productive and creative activity, allowing participants—most of whom have direct or indirect ties to migration—to develop skills that generate income opportunities. Cabinetmaking is also a traditional and valued craft in Coatepeque, with deep cultural roots.
The donation included saws, drills, planers, routers and tools, which will allow a more effective, safe, and dynamic approach to practical learning.
Representatives of Fundación HAME, municipal authorities, and the mayor of Coatepeque, Alfonso García Hemmerling, attended the event.
