As part of its Social Leadership strategic focus, Fundación HAME provided 525 new desks to 16 rural public schools in San Marcos, Quetzaltenango, and Retalhuleu. The furniture was distributed in these communities:
- Ocós: Las Cruces, Laureles, and Los Faros
- Ayutla: El Triunfo Village and La Independencia
- Malacatán: El Rubí
- Pajapita: La Parada Village and Palmira Colony
- El Tumbador: El Guapinol and Villanueva Village
- Coatepeque: La Unión Village, San Antonio El Naranjo, and La Felicidad Village
- San José La Máquina: Line A5
- San Andrés Villa Seca: San Francisco and San Sebastián El Flor
We carried out this activity in coordination with the Ministry of Education which, through an assessment, identified the schools with the greatest needs and the number of desks needed for students.
The objective of this initiative is to equip public schools in the communities with which we work so that students have decent furniture that facilitates their learning and academic development. This, in turn, will allow them to prepare for a better tomorrow.
We have delivered more than 1,800 desks, reaffirming our commitment to the education and well-being of Guatemalan children.
