Roberto: The Young Man Who Transformed His Return into an Opportunity for Growth

A few years ago, Roberto Barán made the difficult decision to migrate to the United States looking for better opportunities. However, as happens to many people, his journey didn't go as planned, and he was returned to Guatemala after being abandoned by his coyote in Ciudad Juárez.

Far from giving up, he decided to turn that experience into a new beginning. Today, he is the founder of Pollos Tilín, a community-based enterprise in Coatepeque (Quetzaltenango) dedicated to broiler chicken production.

With the support of the Fundación HAME, Roberto received supplies and technical assistance to strengthen his business, tools that allowed him to boost the growth of Pollos Tilín and generate a positive impact on his community. Today, while leading his company, he creates opportunities for six other people in Coatepeque, contributing to local economic development.

We are proud to support stories like Roberto's. For us, supporting entrepreneurs is the starting point for more young people to build a life project in their communities, without migration being their only option.

Roberto is an example of resilience, vision, and commitment. His story demonstrates that, with the right opportunities, talent, hard work and hope can be engines of transformation for individuals, their families, and their communities.
